The stadium is one of the venues being built for the FIFA 2018 Football World Cup.

After the worldcup gets over, the venue will be home of FC Mordovia Saransk in the Russian Premier League, replacing Start Stadium.

It is a simple bowl-shaped venue having acid orange seats. The capacity of the stadium for the FIFA 2018 Football World Cup will be of 44,442 people, but after the FIFA 2018 World Cup upper stands will be dismantled, decreasing capacity to 28,000 spectators.
